COVID-19 Update from CMHF

Dear Community Members,

As Cambridge Memorial Hospital clinical staff focus on the screening and care of patients, our Foundation is working diligently to ensure that they are supported in their critical work – keeping you and your family safe and well cared for.

For tips to keep your loved ones and your community safe, please visit regionofwaterloo.ca.

In the unfortunate situation that you or your family is feeling unwell or planning a visit to the hospital for any reason, please view www.cmh.org or @_CMHospital (Twitter) for the most timely information.

In keeping with public health recommendations and exercising additional caution, we will be postponing all CMHF events and gatherings currently planned between March 16th and April 30th including our April 7th Diversity Dinner. Your safety and wellbeing is our highest priority and we appreciate your understanding over the coming weeks as our community navigates this health situation together.

COVID-19 continues to impact all of us and especially our frontline CMH team. Because of you and your generosity over the past year, our team is the most prepared they have ever been to be here for you and your family.

Community health needs continue – babies will be born and medical emergencies will arise along with responding to COVID-19. At this critical time, our hospital is so appreciative of your ongoing support.

Our Foundation staff are available by phone and email to continue our efforts to support CMH. Please continue to call the main line (519) 740-4966 during business hours (8:30am – 4:30pm). The most efficient way to reach us is with an email, [email protected].

I encourage you to take stay connected with the CMHF donor family using all virtual channels:

View our February Appeal page to read Hospital President & CEO Patrick Gaskin’s comments on how our new wing is well-equipped for patients, including the handling of respiratory illness with our new negative pressure rooms. This is also where you can find our most recent Report to the Community and our 2020 Impact Report.)

We will continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation in our community and communicate with you regularly.

Changes to CMH Visitor Policy

CMH is committed to keeping patients and staff safe during the COVID-19 outbreak and are taking measures to lessen the risk of spreading disease in the hospital. This includes reducing the number of visitors at our hospital. CMH is restricting visits to one person, per patient at one time. Screening of all visitors will also begin March 17.

During the course of this outbreak, you are encouraged to postpone visits to the hospital if it is not required. For more information, please click here.

If experiencing even mild symptoms of COVID-19 – fever, cough, or difficulty breathing – you are asked to stay home and call Region of Waterloo Public Health first at 519-575-4400.
