CMHReveal gala makes history with over $1M raised for hospital equipment

Community generosity shines through CMHReveal, drawing the event’s largest crowd ever

Cambridge, Ontario – Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation (CMHF) is thrilled to share that on Friday, February 27, more than 400 community members united at Tapestry Hall for what became a defining moment in local hospital support.

Fueled by extraordinary generosity and hometown pride, CMHReveal – Starlight Serenade raised over $1 million, making it one of the most successful and impactful events in the Foundation’s history. Generous donors, sponsors and guests helped surpass the original fundraising goal to support new and replacement equipment for the lab and funded additional priority equipment for patients.

To inspire attendees, Dr. Jacqueline Bourgeois, Chief of Lab and Pathology at CMH, shed light on the important work done behind closed doors by her team in the in-house lab. New equipment and upgraded technology will help her team improve diagnostic efficiency, shorten wait times for results, and advance the hospital’s resources in emergency situations, where minutes can make all the difference.

Also revealed during the evening, was the power of community partnership on enhancing local care. It was announced that Faisal Susiwala, the event’s CaringLEAD sponsor, is extending his sponsorship for an additional seven years. This incredible support by the top real estate agent in the Region will help the Foundation continue to grow this event and attract new sponsors.

The momentum in the Tapestry Hall room was undeniable. With paddles raised high during the Fund-a-Need segment, record-breaking raffle participation, auction bidding and generous contributions at every level, CMHReveal guests came together in collective generosity. Each contribution built upon the next, moving the fundraising meter close to goal. As the final total came in just shy of $1 million, a final gift helped close the gap, prompting applause throughout the room.

Lisa Short, Foundation President and CEO shared her gratitude and excitement, “What happened at CMHReveal this year was extraordinary. You could feel the sense of pride and the joy in the room; reminding us of what this community can accomplish when we come together. I would like to thank every donor, sponsor, guest, and volunteer on behalf of my colleagues at CMH and the Foundation for making this happen!”

“Because of our generous community, our lab will have new and modern equipment to deliver faster diagnoses. These Future Ready pieces of equipment will directly impact patient care and support families across our Region, added Short while talking about the spirit of the fundraiser, and the impact of donor investment.

The evening’s activities were guided by the charismatic powerhouse in fundraising, Layne the Auctionista. The energy continued with line dancing from KYnamics, turning the gala into a true community celebration.

The evening closed on a hearty and grateful note when country music stars, The Reklaws and Nate Haller, took the stage for a special singer-songwriter circle. Sharing personal stories about their connection to Cambridge, they thanked donors for investing in local healthcare and delivered an entertaining set that had guests on their feet.

As the final numbers were tallied at the end of the night, one thing was clear, this was not just one of the most successful events, it was a defining moment for local healthcare. CMHF is deeply grateful to every member of the community whose support will strengthen care at CMH and create a lasting impact for generations to come.
