An evening of gratitude

On Wednesday, October 22, we hosted our annual Celebration of Champions event at Galt Country Club. This event is one way to celebrate and show gratitude to loyal donors of specific giving programs of our Foundation. 

A special thanks to Dr. Jacqueline Bourgeois for her keynote, sharing meaningful insight into the important work happening behind-the-scenes in our Lab that helps patients in their care journey. She also discussed the evolution of our lab and equipment, and highlighted recent achievements made possible by community support. 

Something special is returning…

For 37 years, Trees of Caring has been a cherished community tradition, honouring loved ones in our community. A tribute to those who are honoured shines brightly in our courtyard during the holidays, bringing warmth, hope and gratitude to CMH. 

As part of this tradition, you will hear from someone special this year; someone whose work touches hearts and spirits in the most sacred moments.

Work, life and balancing it all with Dr. Smriti

At a Foundation event this summer, Dr. Smriti Nayan, facial reconstructive surgeon at CMH, delivered an empowering message, “you may not be holding the scalpel, but you are part of the healing.”

CMH launches Real-Time Locating System for newborns and staff

Our hospital recently launched its new Real-Time Locating System (RTLS) for Staff Protection and HUGs. These bands are designed to enhance safety for both infants and staff. 

The HUGs system ensures peace of mind for new parents by triggering alarms if an infant is at risk of leaving the unit. “This initiative changes how we safeguard our most vulnerable patients,” says Melissa Sockett, Emergency Department Manager.

Meanwhile, Staff Protection provides fast security response for staff in need. 

Welcoming Luisa to our Foundation team

We are excited to welcome and introduce our most recent team member, Luisa Rodriguez!
 
Luisa is already making successful strides with the Foundation data team and helping manage and maintain our donor lists, support strategic planning and developing data-driven insights and reporting.

Originally from Colombia and now based in Kitchener, Luisa enjoys travelling, hiking, dancing, listening to podcasts and exploring different cuisines. Welcome aboard, Luisa!
