With this gift, the Islamic Centre’s total contribution now exceeds $120,000 in support of essential hospital equipment. A thank you from grateful patient, Lori Hall Duarte
Sixteen years ago, Lori’s cancer journey began with a lump that she hoped would be nothing. Since then, CMH has been by her side for more than 434 treatments and several hundred hospital visits.
“When my cancer returned in 2015, I didn’t have to start over somewhere new. My care team knows me and they are there for me every step of the way. This was made possible because of generous donors like you, and for that, I am deeply grateful,” shares Lori.
Today, Lori is still in treatment. Still making memories with the people she loves.
She sends her gratitude to our generous community and is thankful for the compassionate care she continues to receive close to home.
A tradition of reflection and renewal
Earlier this month, CMH was honoured to welcome Clarence Cachagee, a member of Chapleau First Nation and founder of Crow Shield Lodge, for the annual Eagle Feather Re-energizing ceremony.
The Eagle Feather, gifted to CMH by Clarence in 2024, was renewed through a Smudge ceremony using sacred medicines like sweet-grass, sage, or tobacco, to wash and feed the Feather. It is displayed in our Main Lobby as a symbol of understanding, respect and compassion for First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
The Feather reflects CMH’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation and welcomes all who enter our hospital.
Handmade gifts from Equitable brings joy to patients
Created as part of Equitable’s annual June volunteering activities, the team donated handsewn scent hearts for our tiniest patients in the Special Care Nursery, and colourful bracelets and thoughtful cards for patients across various departments. These items will bring comfort, positivity and encouragement.
For over 28 years, Equitable has donated more than $167,000 towards essential equipment and made significant contributions to our now-completed Capital Redevelopment Project. Thank you for your continued support.
Scent hearts are an item from CMH’s Wishlist. One of our present needs on this list supports children in our Fracture Clinic, through our Cast Buddy program.
Honda fans – gear up for a fun Sunday outing!
Mark your calendars! The 5th annual Klean Street car show is happening Sunday, August 9, bringing together an impressive lineup of classic, custom and cherished Honda vehicles. Spend the day enjoying food, drinks, music and explore merchandise.
Participants can attend with a minimum donation of $10 per person. Funds raised will help bring life-saving equipment to the hospital.
