Behind every great patient experience at Cambridge Memorial Hospital is a volunteer who made a moment better.
At the 135th AGM of the CMH Volunteer Association, we celebrated the people who bring compassion to life across the hospital from the front doors to clinical spaces and everywhere in between.
This past year alone, volunteers contributed more than 33,000 hours in support of patients, families and care teams. Their impact is felt in simple but powerful ways: guiding someone when they feel lost, offering reassurance in uncertain moments, and helping create a more human experience in healthcare.
The evening also included a remarkable surprise. A $110,000 donation to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, a testament to the generosity and commitment of this volunteer community. Over the years, CMH VA has contributed over $850,000 in support of new equipment and technology at CMH.
We also celebrated incredible milestones, recognizing volunteers with years and decades of service alongside those just beginning their journey. Each pin, certificate and award represents something much bigger: a culture of care, connection and community.
At CMH, volunteers don’t just support the hospital. They shape how care feels. And that makes all the difference.
Did you know? The Volunteer Association grants all profits from the businesses run by CMHVAs to the CMH Foundation to help fund essential hospital equipment. These businesses include the Gift Shop, CMH Tim Hortons and the Upcycle Thrift Shop. Over the years, the Volunteer Association has contributed over $850,000 towards equipment through its ventures.
