Squirrel the Bully
Squirrel is funny and makes others laugh, so Bunny, Mouse, and Frog would like him to become their friend. But what happens when Squirrel begins bullying them, one by one, teasing them for the ways that they are different? Squirrel the Bully addresses the issue of bullying and what can be done by children to stand up against it, as well as illustrating the importance of celebrating difference. It also speaks to the fact that keeping quiet in the face of bullying when not directed at you is not good.
“Hopeful” was written by Dr. Asa Ahimbisibwe, CMH Obstetrician to honour his parents who – in his words – had reckless hope in the power of education and to put a spotlight on the importance of providing education to girls in developing countries. Dr. Ahimbisibwe has set a goal of raising $10,000 for CMHF through his book proceeds.
Dr. Asa Ahimbisibwe could have easily not become a doctor. Growing up in Uganda, Africa, the young professional always had the world pushing against him, but his desire to obtain an education persisted until he found success.
Even though his dream of becoming a medical professional came true, his female family members have not been as fortunate due to the lack of support for women’s health and education in developing countries.
Dr. Ahimbisibwe recently published Hopeful, a book about the challenges of the many children growing up in developing countries who yearn to have an education. Hopeful is an account of
Dr. Ahimbisibwe and his cousin who, born in disadvantaged villages in Uganda, embark on the uphill task of changing their lives, but end up in completely different places.
