As a first-generation South Asian immigrant, Faisal Susiwala was raised to value gratitude, generosity, and service. He believes that true success isn’t measured with just professional achievements, but also by how much you’re able to uplift others in your journey. He says that this philosophy has guided his life and career and is visible in his longstanding support of Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
Faisal is one of Cambridge’s most respected real estate professionals, with experience spanning over 38 years. He is Canada’s top RE/MAX agent and top performer worldwide who has helped many families and immigrants find a home for themselves. But beyond his business success, Faisal is known in the community for something even more meaningful; his commitment to support local healthcare and giving back to the people.
His connection to the hospital is deeply personal.
Faisal’s father, Sikander, found work at CMH after a serious accident left him unable to continue his former job. This opportunity brought hope to their family, and especially Sikander .
“CMH gave my father purpose when he needed it most. He found lifelong friends in the maintenance department and loved the physicians and nurses working at that time. He lights up every time when talking about CMH.” Faisal recalls.
“And for this, my family will always be grateful.”
The realtor’s philanthropic journey with CMH began when he was on the Cambridge real estate board, when the board was donating to the Hospital. “I was not financially there at that time. But I was always taught to give back when you have abundance.”
Then in 2017, Faisal made his first significant donation to CMH Foundation, $1 on behalf of every Cambridge resident, over $130,000. It was a simple idea with powerful results; if everyone gives a little, the collective impact can be extraordinary!
Talking about why he supports CMH, Faisal says, “We all need a hospital at some point in our lives.” Faisal adds how a hospital is a pillar of every community and that many of his clients specially ask for locations that are close to their local hospital “It’s like your home, if we don’t take care of it, we can’t expect it to be there when we need it.”
Faisal continues his commitment to help raise funds for essential hospital equipment as a multi-year CMHReveal CaringLEAD sponsor. Thanks to his sponsorship, we surpassed our fundraising goal for a new mammography machine at last year’s CMHReveal. The new unit is now installed and ensuring clear reports and better access to early detection for the growing population in our Region.
Leading by example, Faisal urges businesses and local residents to give back in any way they can.
