After over two decades of dedicated service, we are bittersweetly bidding farewell to Karen Seeley, our beloved Controller, managing all things finance related at the Foundation.
Karen’s journey with the Foundation began in 1998 when she volunteered while balancing her role as a stay-at-home mom. She quickly became an invaluable part of our team, supporting the Foundation with administration, database management, invoices and finances.
After volunteering with us for eight years, when the Foundation was looking for someone to support us more prominently in the Finance role, Karen was welcomed as the Controller.
Through her hard work and dedication, Karen ensured the Foundation ran smoothly during both prosperous times and challenges, including our transition to a hybrid workflow. Her attention to the smallest detail ensured our finances were always in order and earned her the trust and respect of our Board, colleagues, donors, and auditors alike.
Karen also developed lasting relationships with donors, vendors, corporations and volunteers – making the giving process easy to navigate while helping them understand the impact of their gifts.
Karen was part of many Foundation events over the years, either as a friendly face at registration, or sometimes as a guest supporter. Always a CMH Champion, Karen even inspired her grandson to host a birthday fundraiser for the Hospital.

Reflecting on her time here, Karen shared, “The Foundation and the people here have always been there for me; cheering me on through good times and being compassionate when times got tough.”
“I feel very proud to have contributed to my Community in this way.”
“My highlight at work has always been the people; people I have impacted through my work, and people who have shared my mutual purpose,” she added.
Known affectionately to the team as “the Office Mum,” Karen has made a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path.
“Karen has been an integral part of the CMHF team for so many years, and her contributions cannot be overstated,” says Lisa Short, CMH Foundation’s President and CEO. “She has been a cornerstone of CMHF. Karen’s commitment, contributions and guidance at the Foundation has made a lasting impact on all of us. We are incredibly grateful for all she has done and, while we will certainly miss her, everyone here at the Foundation wishes her the best in her retirement. Karen, thank you for everything!”
We will miss you dearly, Karen, and we wish you all the best as you embark on this well-deserved new chapter!
