Fracture Clinic named in honour of Gore Mutual Insurance Foundation

On May 13, leaders from CMH, CMHF and Gore Mutual Insurance came together for a special reception and plaque unveiling at the Fracture Clinic.

This celebration recognizes more than $1.3 million in philanthropic investment from Gore Mutual Insurance Foundation and Gore Mutual Insurance. Gore has been a cornerstone of Cambridge since 1839 and since many years, their investment have helped bring state-of-the-art equipment to CMH, ensuring modern care stays close to home.

“Helping the communities in which we live and work has been at the heart of how we have done business as a mutual insurer for 187 years,” shared Neil Parkinson, Chair of the Gore Mutual Board of Directors and Gore Mutual Insurance Foundation.

Celebrating Kathy’s Retirement and impactful career

With both gratitude and some bittersweet emotions, we’re sharing that Kathy Wilson, Sr. Development Officer at the Foundation, will be retiring at the end of June after more than nine years with the organization. 

Kathy has been an integral part of the Foundation and has supported many transformational projects. From leading the early Trees of Caring tradition to managing major donor portfolios and legacy gifts, Kathy has played a key role in helping bring new and modern equipment to our hospital. She has also lead the Physician campaign and has supported several projects like One Voice One Vision, MRI and WeCareCMH campaigns.

We are grateful for her leadership and dedication. We wish Kathy a wonderful retirement filled with family time, laughs and adventures with her granddaughter.

RBC team added kernel energy to our nursing week celebrations 

CMH celebrated Nursing Week this May with snacks, workshops and many fun activities. To add to the festivities, several RBC staff members joined us for the week, handing out free popcorn to all staff. 

In addition to the buttery treats, RBC is also making a meaningful impact through their $40,000 commitment to support nursing education and training at CMH. These grants help our nurses grow, learn, and continue providing the exceptional care our community relies on.

Discovery Day helps students feel comfortable in a hospital setting

CMH recently welcomed high school students aged 14-21 with diverse learning and communication needs for a special Discovery Day experience. This initiative aimed to help students fell more comfortable in a hospital environment, reduce overstimulation and make accessing medical care less intimidating. 

 “It was very emotional to see how much this has impacted students,” shared one of the teachers.

Other local high school students also participate in CMH’s Project SEARCH program, helping build confidence, workplace skills and community connections. 

An elegant tea party in support of CMH

We would like to thank Maya, Helena and the Incline Events volunteers for bringing the elegant tradition of High Tea to Cambridge. 

This third-party event hosted guests for beautiful Sunday afternoon filled with dainty teas, pastries and savoury bites as they raised over $23,000 in support of essential equipment needed at CMH. A big thanks to all community members who were able to join this fun in on the fun!   

Incline Events is a youth-led local organization that plans and hosts community events in support of charities.
