CMHReveal Gala Achieves $5M Spotlight MRI Fundraising Goal

Cambridge, Ontario – Over 325 guests celebrated surpassing the $5 million goal of Spotlight MRI at Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (CMHF) annual CMHReveal gala held the evening of Thursday, February 29th at Tapestry Hall. The event raised $506,000 bringing the total raised for Spotlight MRI to over $5 million.

Layne, the Auctionista, brought their signature high-energy as emcee, leading the live auction of outstanding packages along with Fund-A-Need donations for the new MRI. Another highlight was the raffle of Air Canada’s donation of two business-class flights anywhere the airline flies.

“CMHReveal is CMHF’s most significant event of the year and aims to make raising funds for healthcare the talk of the town. This year did not disappoint!” said Lisa Short, Executive Director of CMHF. “We are very appreciative to all donors who stepped forward to raise the funds needed to bring a new MRI to Cambridge Memorial Hospital and to tonight’s CMHReveal guests who closed out our efforts. It made our party a true celebration of local generosity to healthcare.”

Pivotal to the evening’s success was a matching gift challenge announced by long-term donors and volunteers Angelo and Monica Loberto. By the end of the evening, their significant giving inspired others to step forward to close the gap to reach $5 million, including a leadership gift from Jim and Sue Hallman.

“We are grateful to the dedicated staff and volunteers who care for us all, and who make CMH truly a great hospital. We donate because they inspire us as they tirelessly make meaningful impacts on our community,” shared Angelo. Monica agreed, adding, “We hope our donation encourages others to join us in giving back. At some point, everyone in the community will need to visit CMH – and when they do, they deserve to have the best equipment at their disposal.”

A portion of the evening recognized the contribution of the two inaugural sponsors, Cambridge Ford and Rego Realty at Corcoran Horizon. Both businesses were lead sponsors and champions since the inception of CMHReveal in 2019 and the conclusion of their multi-year commitments were honoured from the stage.

The funds raised at CMHReveal are directed to Spotlight MRI to purchase a new MRI to replace the Hospital’s current 12-year-old MRI machine with a new state-of-the-art model and cover costs to prepare the unique space that will house the new MRI within the newly opened Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Department. This work is anticipated to be complete by mid-2025 with delivery and installation of a new MRI anticipated by that year’s end.

Community dollars fund 100% of the equipment and technology at CMH for both new and replacement equipment such as the MRI. It is the work of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation to raise funds for hospital equipment and seek support through special events like CMHReveal and other activities. With the successful conclusion of Spotlight MRI, CMHF’s future fundraising priority will focus on the essential equipment accessed every day by healthcare teams to provide the best possible care and comfort to patients.
