CMH SEWING CHALLENGE

HELP MAKE MASKS FOR CMH- Join the Facebook Group here!

Thank you for thinking of Cambridge Memorial Hospital and for considering creative ways to help us.

Our Community is no different than others in that there is a global shortage of personal protective equipment (e.g., face shields) used by frontline workers when performing certain high-risk medical procedures. There is a collective effort from leaders across many disciplines to rectify this during unprecedented circumstances.

The Sewing Challenge does not replace the need for certain types of personal protective equipment, learn more HERE.

Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation is issuing a challenge to all sewers to collectively make masks hats and gowns for CMH!

FAQS

Who will be given these masks?

  • Hospital healthcare providers will not use these masks. They have certified masks that they are required to wear.
  • All approved visitors who enter CMH
  • All of our discharged patients as they reintegrate into the community

Where and when can I drop off my completed masks?

Please put your sewn masks in a plastic bag with your contact information (name, address, email address and phone number). Providing your contact information is optional and will be used by the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation to thank you for participating in the CMH Mask Challenge and share updates.

Masks can be dropped off at the home of our volunteer mask coordinator at 666 Hamilton St, Preston. There is a large black bin on the covered porch.

Alternatively they can be dropped off at CMH D Wing doors between 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Once you arrive, stay in your car and give the Foundation a call at 519-740-4966 and we will come and meet you.

Social/Physical Distancing best practices will be adhered to during drop off.

I don’t have elastics. Can I use fabric ties?

Yes, you can absolutely replace the elastics in the pattern with fabric ties.

I’m using a different pattern. Is that okay?

For consistency we prefer that you use the approved pattern unless these are for your personal use.

Aren’t all non-essential businesses closed? Where can I find fabric and sewing supplies right now?

In many cases, you can still shop online!

I have another question – who do I contact?

If you have any other questions, please contact: Carol Thorman, Community Volunteer, Head Mask Maker:  [email protected] or join the Facebook Group Click here
